BLIND GUARDIAN Drummer Answers Questions
September 29, 2006First-week sales of BLIND GUARDIAN's "A Twist in the Myth" in the U.S. landed Germany's favorite sons at No. 21 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart and No. 288 on the Billboard Album chart.
While out on the road in Europe, new drummer Fredrik Ehmke took some time out to answer the following questions:
Worst rock 'n' roll injury:
"I once had a nearly broken leg, which was in fact a sports injury. I played one show with my left leg in a cast (I was glad it wasn't the right one!),but luckily, I never got seriously injured on stage or in a musical context in general!!"
Weirdest gift received from a fan:
"We once got a traditional musical instrument by some Russian fans in Moscow. It looks like some kind of harp or lyra. It was actually more a special gift than a weird one... but the surfaces to write autographs on are sometimes really mad!"
Very first tattoo and the circumstances?
"I haven't gotten any tattoos yet. Basically, I like tattoos, but the time and especially the motive weren't right for me 'til now..."
Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, all dead at 27. Why is 27 is such a killer?
"I don't know! Several weeks ago I reached the blessed age of 28, so I survived the critical 27. Maybe you have to be a legend in your own lifetime to die at 27? I think you forgot to mention also Kurt Cobain. Didn't he die at the age of 27, too?"
BLIND GUARDIAN recently took part in a special live performance for AOL.de's "Live Sessions".
